Ethereum's market value as a share of the world's broad money. Broad money is the money households and companies can spend within weeks: cash, current accounts, savings and short-term deposits. We add the five largest money supplies, each in its own currency, and convert them to dollars at the European Central Bank's reference rates.

Stablecoin dollars settled on Ethereum's main chain over the last 12 months, against what people spent on Visa and Mastercard cards over 12 months. On the Ethereum side we use Visa's adjusted volume, which strips out activity that is not real settlement: transfers inside exchanges, minting and burning, bots, MEV and short-term routing, and any address that sent more than 1,000 transactions or $10M in 30 days. Raw transfer volume is many times larger. On the card side we use purchase volume, so cash withdrawals are left out on both sides.
Sources: Visa Onchain Analytics (Allium), adjusted, updated monthly. Visa payments volume and Mastercard purchase volume from their earnings releases, updated quarterly.
